p30 With gratitude "to" she accepts no ownership of the timeless and eternal placed into her hands and knows this bit of life in her keeping belongs to another realm. It is simply so. Felt in every mother heart. Placed not, perhaps, in words, but acknowledged; a deeply evident recognition of simply undeniable truth. She may keep her gratitude hidden, telling no one, bearing in secret the divine jewel she sees beyond the appearance of the boy or girl she names. She is honored and indebted at once, raised up and yet set upon a torturous path of caring for this jewel she gives back "to" the One she sends gratitude, the life only shortly hers to tend, the world and the great "to" joined in anticipation of new life that is their joint concern, faithful in the abiding sense of meaning.
